My first post & my summer favourites!

Greetings everyone and welcome to my first blog post! I created this blog simply because I love makeup and all things beautiful! I try and see beauty in everything and I really hope to convey that in my blog.

Why did I start this blog?  I stumbled into the world of blogging by accident- I was researching a beauty product (Laura Mercier Silk Creme foundation,  to be exact!) and I found a review from one of my favourite bloggers. After that I was hooked and it just snowballed from there really. I also went to New York that year, which fuelled my obsession further (Oh Sephora, how I miss you!)! I have always loved beauty products, so a blog is a great way to put these products to use!

Anyway lets get on with my first review shall we?

I have put together a list of my favourite products for the summer. I typically don’t wear heavy makeup, and during summer I try to keep it very natural. A tinted moisturiser, a golden bronzer and a nude lip is usually my daily routine. I normally self tan on a weekly basis; this allows you to get away with less makeup, in my opinion.

First product is one I discovered quite by accident. I was browsing my local Priceline store and stumbled across a new tanner. It is by Bondi Sands, and it is a self tanning lotion. It comes in two shades, Fair/Medium and Dark. Now, I do normally buy self tanners in the lighter shade, however I decided to buy the Dark shade. I am very happy I did, as I really like the colour! It gives quite a strong yellow colour but as my skin naturally has a yellow tinge to it, it worked quite well on me.
The colour is a brown with a green tinge, and it has a lovely coconut smell. It has a gel like consistency and goes on quite smoothly. I would suggest you use a tanning mitt for application as it can stain your hands quite dark (I found this out the hard way-yikes!) I found that one coat was enough for me- I did apply a light coat the following day and I looked quite yellow. So stick to one coat if you’re after a natural looking tan and if you are fair.

The second item is my beloved Origins VitaZing SPF 15 moisturiser. I am onto my second tube and I can’t express how much I love this product! It is a clear formula but turns into a tint once it makes contact with your skin. It really gives your skin a glow. I highly recommend this product!

The next product is the Napoleon ‘Bronze Patrol’. This is the most perfect bronzer ever, in my opinion! It is a warm golden brown colour with shimmer throughout, and is extremely smooth to apply. It is almost impossible to go overboard with this bronzer. It is buildable, which allows you to control how bronzed you want to look!

Prestige Skin Loving Minerals bronzer in ‘Rich Bronze’, is another favourite of mine, and I will review this in my next post.

Another bronzer I use occasionally is the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel. I bought this based on reviews from some of my favourite bloggers. I do like it, however I find it hard to apply. Does anyone have any hints or tips??

I am also loving the Revlon Lip Butters. I have bought a few of these but the one I reach for the most is the shade ‘Sugar Frosting’. This is the perfect day shade for me. It is a pink/mauve shade and it has a very smooth texture. There are many reviews of the lip butters out there so I won’t bore you. However, I do love these and plan to buy a few more.

Another product that receives a lot of love is the Nars Illuminator in ‘Super Orgasm’. This is a lovely peachy colour with shimmer throughout. I find it quite pigmented, so a little goes a long way. I normally dab some on my cheekbones for a glistening look. As you only need a little bit, I can imagine this tube lasting for a long time!

And lastly, I bought a new makeup brush last week. The brand is called ‘Montana Bliss’ and I purchased the fluffy powder brush. It has extremely soft bristles and feels lovely against the skin! However, it is not a very dense brush, so it is probably best used for a light dusting of powder. It also sheds quite a bit. I have purchased the kabuki brush from that range before, and I must say it is very good quality. It is dense, soft against the skin and does not shed at all.
So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed this post and please feel free to leave a comment below!
