Hey everyone! I purchased the St. Tropez Tanning Mousse in Dark quite a while ago and have used it enough times to give an honest review. I have used St. Tropez products previously and have been pretty happy overall with them. I had purchased the regular tanning mousse from their range quite a few times and had always been very happy with the results. They give a great olive colour, and are as close to a ‘natural’ tan as you can get.
St. Tropez Tanning Mousse in Dark.
I found out about this tanner through a fellow blogger and immediately thought ‘I gotta get my hands on that’. So off I went to purchase it. It was actually pretty expensive ($65.00 AUD), however I told myself it was all in the name of research.
You can see how dark this mousse is in the above photo.
When I first applied this product, I didn’t love it. It looked really dark and a bit scary, to tell you the truth. I applied it with my tanning mitt and discovered that the tanner dries very quickly. You need to work fast to rub it in, otherwise it will end up streaky and uneven. Because the mousse is dark in colour, you can see where you have applied it which is helpful. I applied this on my body, but not my face. For some reason, St Tropez products react badly to my face, so I always need to apply a different tanner (usually Xen Tan). I went to bed and prayed that it would work.
A close up. You can see how it’s starting to stain my hand…
When I awoke the next day and looked in the mirror, my first thought was ‘holy moly!’ My skin looked much darker than what I am used to, and dare I say, a tad orange. I had visions of locking myself in the house, yikes!
However, after showering I was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the tint washed out, and I was left with a very natural, olive tan. It was a bit uneven, however I think that was due to the way I applied it. It’s taken me a few tries but I’ve found a way to apply this so it goes on evenly and streak free. You really need to blend it in quickly, and don’t apply too many layers- it’s a ‘dark’ tanning mousse for a reason.
It’s probably my favourite tanner for the body. I definitely recommend this product if you like a natural looking tan.
Have you tried this product? What did you think?
