I’m a huge fan of highlighters and love nothing more than discovering new favourites. I’ve amassed quite a few on my journey of obtaining that elusive glow, and I think I’ve found it with the Mary-Lou Manizer by The Balm. This has become somewhat of a cult product- it gives you that soft candlelit glow that we all lust over.
The Mary-Lou Manizer is housed in a sturdy compact case that flips open to reveal a mirror. It’s perfect for throwing into your bag or for travel, as it’s protected by a strong casing and contains a mirror. I absolutely love the retro packaging- it looks really cute on my bathroom bench.
It comes in a powder form and is very finely milled and creamy to the touch. It is not chalky in the slightest; It almost feels like a cream when applied. The formula is incredibly pigmented, so only a slight sweep with your brush is needed to highlight the face.
In terms of the colour, it’s a gorgeous gold based highlighter with shimmer. Because the powder is so finely milled, the shimmer is not apparent to the naked eye. It is not the type of highlighter where there are chunks of glitter. It simply gives the skin a sheen.
I like to apply it to my cheekbones using my Arbonne Contour Brush. I simply sweep my brush over the powder very gently, and dust it over my cheekbones and on the bridge of my nose. You truly only need the tiniest amount- just enough to give the face a sheen. I also love applying this to the inner corner of my eyes to open up the eye area.
You can see it’s a yellow based highlighter. I can imagine this highlighter suiting a variety of skin tones.
The Balm have some wonderful products in their range, and this is definitely one of them. For me, this product lived up to its hype.
Have you tried the Mary-Lou Manizer?
