Urban Decay is a brand that most people are familiar with, thanks to the hugely successful Naked palettes. Their eyeshadows are known for having great pigment and a creamy, blendable texture. I’m yet to purchase a Naked palette (I have my eye on the Naked Palette 3), however I do own the Urban Decay Midnight Emergency eyeshadow kit.
This kit is housed in a little gold zip pouch. It’s a really cute, compact size and is small enough it carry in your handbag. There is also a mirror included inside, which is handy for touch-ups.
This kit holds four eyeshadows, a lipgloss and an eyeshadow brush (not pictured). The eyeshadows included are:
Midnight Cowboy: this is a soft rose gold shade, with silver shimmer.
Midnight Rodeo: this is a mauve/rose gold, brown based shade, with silver shimmer.
Midnight 15: this is a soft champagne colour, with very fine shimmer throughout.
AC/DC: this is a beautiful mid purple smoky shade, with very fine shimmer throughout.
Midnight Cowboy and Midnight Rodeo are similar as they both contain quite a lot of shimmer. It is quite glittery once applied to the skin. Midnight 15 and AC/DC are also similar, as they both contain minimal shimmer.
In terms of pigment, I’d say Midnight Rodeo and Midnight Cowboy are the most pigmented. You do not need to apply much to get a good colour payoff. Midnight 15 is slightly chalky but still has pretty good pigment. Because it is such a light shade, you need to apply quite a bit to get it to show up on the skin. AC/DC is extremely creamy, provably the most creamy out of the shades. It shows up as a beautiful soft purple shade, with little shimmer. This is probably my favourite shade out of the kit.

Lip Junkie lipgloss in ‘Midnight Cowboy’. This lipgloss claims to ‘cool and plump’.
To be honest, I’ve only used the lipgloss once. It’s quite a sticky, thick lipgloss, and feels tacky on the lips. I’m not a huge fan of these type of glosses, but it is a pretty colour and looks nice on the lips. It contains shimmer, as shown in the above photo.
Overall, this is a cute little kit, and the colours of the eyeshadows are beautiful. However, it’s not something that I reach for much, to be quite honest. I tend to use the eyeshadows in my Z Palette more often, just because it holds all of my favourite eyeshadows in the one place. I might try depotting these into my Z Palette, to get more wear out of them. Also, because the eyeshadows all contain shimmer, it’s more suited to creating nighttime eye looks, as opposed to daytime.
Have you tried this kit? What did you think of it?
