I discovered so many great products in 2014, so I thought I’d compile a list of my favourites! 2014 was the year where I became mindful of what I was putting onto my skin, and adopted a more natural- based skincare and makep routine. Here are the products that I used frequently, and continue to use on a regular basis.
Avocado and salt face mask/exfoliator: This natural remedy was recommended by a friend and it has helped my skin immensely. I have personally noticed a big difference in the severity of my breakouts and it has also helped to keep my breakouts to a minimum. I’ve been using this treatment every night this week and my breakouts are drying out each day. If you have acne prone skin I highly recommend this treatment.
From left to right: Bronzer Pure Rice Powder in ‘Bronze Tones’, Sun Halo Versatile Vanilla Highlighter and The Real Rosehip Lipbars in the shades ‘Life’ and ‘Nude‘.
Ere Perez cosmetics: I have a lot of love for Ere Perez cosmetics, as they are natural, great for sensitive skin and really emphasize your natural beauty. The colours aren’t garish or dramatic and, if you select the right shades, will give you a very natural, effortless look. Out of the products I’ve tried from the range, my favourites are definitely the Bronzer Pure Rice Powder in ‘Bronze Tones’, Sun Halo Versatile Vanilla Highlighter and The Real Rosehip Lipbars in the shades ‘Nude’ and Life’. I use these products everyday and they leave my skin glowing and natural. I cannot recommend this range enough!
Nude by Nature Liquid Mineral Concealer in ‘Medium’, Sothys Protective Cream, Kora Organice Tinted Day Cream, O.P.I Nail Lacquer in ‘Charged Up Cherry’ and Elizabeth Mott’s It’s So Big mascara.
Nude by Nature Liquid Mineral Concealer in ‘Medium’: Concealer is the hardest product to get right in my opinion, as you need to find the right one for your skin. I’ve tried many over the years, but this one from Nude by Nature is a great choice. It’s lightweight, non caky and does a good job of covering up mild blemishes. If you require a heavier coverage then this concealer is probably not for you though.
O.P.I Nail Lacquer in ‘Charged Up Cherry’: my nail polish box is overflowing but this is the shade I reach for the most. It’s a beautiful deep pink colour, and matches practically everything. I highly recommend this shade.
Kora Organice Tinted Day Cream: this is the perfect tinted moisturiser, as its lightweight yet offers the right amount of coverage. I like wearing this on those ‘no makeup’ days. It’s probably my favourite product from the Kora range and one that I use regularly.
Sothys Protective Cream: this is a heavy moisturiser and perfect for those times when your skin needs extra hydration. It’s quite a thick cream so it’s best applied at night. Your skin will be hydrated and plump the next morning. It also corrects minor imperfections on the skin.
Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big mascara: I only received this last week however I have been using it every day since. It’s the perfect everyday mascara; it’s non-clumpy and elongates the lashes, yet manages to look very natural. If you’re after a new mascara I recommend trying this one out.
Organic coconut oil: it’s one of those multi purpose products that can be used in a variety of ways. I like to slather this on my face and neck at night for extra hydration. I also use it to cleanse the skin and remove eye makeup.
I definitely keep my skincare and makeup routine to a minimum and try not to overload my skin with products. Less is more, and ensures breakouts and pesky skin problems are kept to a minimum.
