A trip to Dymocks!

Hey everyone!

I popped into Dymocks on Chapel St over the weekend and picked up more two books. I’ve still got about six books at home waiting to be read but I couldn’t help myself. If I see a book that looks good I’ll buy it…I never hesitate. Who knows if I’ll ever see it again?

Lily Brett is an author I’ve only recently discovered and I absolutely love her novels. She has a unique writing style that draws the reader in and makes it hard to put the book down. Too Many Men is the title of the book I picked up and it tells the story of the protagonist returning to Poland with her father to understand what her family faced during the war. It’s based on the author’s own life, which makes it so fascinating to read. I can’t wait to begin reading.

In keeping with the theme, the other book I bought was Alicia: Memoirs of a Survivor. I had heard of this book and made a mental note to buy it someday. I just happened to walk past the Biography section and there it was. Naturally I picked it up. It tells the true story of Alicia Appleman-Jurman, who lived through the Second World War and after losing her whole family to the Nazis, went on to save the lives of thousands of Jews. This is a book I know I won’t be able to put down. I’ve always been very interested in the Holocaust and the Second World War and have read many novels/personal accounts on the topic.

Have you bought any new books? Please share below!
