Beauty Essentials for a European Summer!

Hi beauties!

I’m happy to report that I’ll be bypassing the miserable Melbourne winter this year. Instead, I’ll be enroute to Europe, soaking up the hot summer over there! Melbourne has been absolutely freezing this past week and it will just get worse. I need sun rays! ☀️ We leave in July and the closer our departure date, the more excited I get! I’ve started packing, just so I can get an idea of what to bring. I’m the type that packs and unpacks my suitcase a billion times, yet still manage to get it wrong. Madness I tell you.

One thing I’ve been thinking about in particular is what to pack in my beauty bag. Obviously I won’t need to pack too much makeup, as it’s a European summer and the last thing I want is makeup running down my face. I plan to keep it very simple and minimal. Here’s a glimpse of what I’ll be taking:

*Warning: this is a long post so you may want to settle in & make yourself a cup of tea!

From left to right: Clinique Super City Block Face Protector and the Kora Tinted Day Cream.

Tinted moisturiser. This is a staple item of any holiday getaway. It’s best to bring two shades; one for pre tan and another for post tan. I’m most likely to take my Clinique Super City Block Face Protector to start off with and the Kora Tinted Day Cream, as it’s darker and will work well with a tan.

The Cancer Council Active Dry Touch Sunsreen SPF+50.

Sunscreen. This is a no brainer, especially when you’ll be spending time in the sun. I love to sunbathe, but I always wear sunscreen. I like the Cancer Council Sunscreen range.

From left: the Ere Perez Pure Rice Powder Bronzer, Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base and the Prestige Skin Loving Mineals Bronzer in ‘Rich Bronze’.

A swatch from left to right: Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base and Prestige Skin Loving Mineals Bronzer in ‘Rich Bronze’. I forgot to include a swatch of the Ere Perez bronzer.

Bronzer. I’m most excited about this one, as I can finally wear my shimmery, copper toned bronzers without feeling orange. I tend to keep my bronzer very light on a daily basis, as Melbourne is always so cold. There is no better excuse than a European holiday to pack on the bronzer! I’m planning to take at least two with me, and maybe a third one. I’ll definitely take the Ere Perez Pure Rice Powder Bronzer, as it contains two shades and will be perfect as my skin darkens. I’ll also bring the Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base, as I don’t really get a chance to wear it often. It’s a light and creamy bronzer that gives the skin a hint of colour. The Prestige Skin Loving Mineals Bronzer in ‘Rich Bronze’ might also get packed; it’s a beautiful bronzer that can be built up to quite a deep colour. It’s also really  shimmery and will look stunning against a deep tan!

The Revlon Lacquer Balm in the shade ‘Tease’ and the Ere Perez Rosehip Lip Bar lipsticks.

Lipsticks. Sheer lipsticks/tints are the way to go for summer, as they’re easy and don’t require much effort. I’ll be packing my favourites; all three of my Ere Perez Rosehip Lip Bar lipsticks, as well as my Revlon Lacquer Balm in the shade ‘Tease‘.

A few of my favourite eye shadows from MAC, Too Faced and Ere Perez. Love!

Eyeshadows. Shimmery shades look beautiful in Summer and you can afford to go a little crazy with colour! Try to include a neutral such as a mid brown, a soft black, a shimmery white and a colour to make your eyes pop. Blue/teal is always a good bet. I’ll be taking three of my MAC eyeshadows, as well as a few of my Too Faced eyeshadows.

The Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation in the shade ‘Warm Ivory’.

Foundation. I’m not sure if I’ll pack a heavy foundation. I might take a light to medium coverage. The salt water always clears my skin, so I know that I won’t need heavy coverage after a few days. If I do take one, it will probably be the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, as it’s light and creamy.

The Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner in the shade ‘Blackest Black’.

Gel liner. This is great for creating a dramatic eye look at night. It’s effortless and polishes up your look. I like the Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Liner in ‘Blackest Black’, as it’s quite an intense black and is budge proof.

From left: theBalm Cheek & Lip Cream Palette and the Ere Perez Cheek & Lip Balm in ‘Holy’.

Cheek Tint. These are great for giving the skin a pop of colour (especially against a dark tan). I’m packing the Ere Perez Cheek & Lip Balm in ‘Holy’ and theBalm Cheek & Lip Cream Palette (sample size) as both are sheer and easy to apply. Both can also be used on lips.

Top left: Ere Perez Highlighter in ‘Sun Halo’. Top right: Ere Perez Highlighter in ‘Falling Star’. Bottom from left: ‘Sun Halo’ and ‘Falling Star’. You can see ‘Sun Halo’ is more golden toned, whereas ‘Falling Star’ has a cooler tone.

Highlighters. These are just as important as bronzers, in my opinion! There’s nothing better than a beautiful, glistening glow on the skin. There are many types of highlighters out there, and it’s important to find one that suits your skin type. I love the Ere Perez Highlighters in ‘Falling Star‘ and ‘Sun Halo‘. ‘Falling Star’ is suited for cooler/paler skin tones whilst ‘Sun Halo’ is suited to warmer skin tones. I use ‘Sun Halo’ daily and will be packing this one with me. I’m not sure if I’ll take ‘Falling Star’.

What do you pack in your beauty bag when travelling?
