Happy hump day! Only two more days until the long weekend and boy am I looking forward to it! I am very much looking forward to sleeping in and catching up on some blogging. Plus I really need to get organised for my upcoming holiday. There is so much to do, like packing, writing lists of all the places and attractions to visit and everything in between.
Remember when Clinique used to have their ‘Almost Makeup’ range? I used to be obsessed with the Almost Makeup foundation; it was the perfect balance between a tinted moisturiser and a medium coverage foundation. I went through tubes of it until one day…it was discontinued. A very sad day indeed. There are stil some tubes floating around eBay but they are very pricey.
I had always heard of the famous Almost Lipstick in Black Honey. It was meant to be one of those lipsticks that suited all skin tones and defied logic (kind of like how the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants jeans miraculously fitted all four girls). After reading a few reviews on it, I decided that I had to purchase it. I ended up purchasing it in Sephora.
Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey.
The product: The Clinique Almost Lipstick is described as a ‘glossy, ultra light lipstick’. As stated on Clinique’s website, ‘Not quite a gloss, and not quite a lipstick, this transparent formula merges with the unique, natural tone of your lips to create a look that’s all your own. Its sheer, emollient-rich formula glides on for easy layering’.
A swatch. It’s very sheer once applied to the skin.
My review: This is more of a sheer tint than a lipstick. It looks very dark in the tube, however once applied, shows up as a beautiful sheer rosy/berry colour. It’s not a lipstick that can be built up to an intense colour; it can be deepened slightly but not very much. It’s quite moisturising on the lips and gives the lips a beautiful subtle gloss. It’s one of those shades that is the colour of your lips, but better. If you prefer a very natural makeup look, this would be a good lipstick to own. I like to apply this when I’m having a minimal makeup day. It polishes up your look but not in an obvious way.
I checked the Australian Clinique website and it looks like the only shade they stock in the Almost Lipstick range is Black Honey. I was sure there used to be more shades, as I remember a shade called Black Cherry. Does anybody know?
