I recently purchased a new lipstick from Shanghai Suzy in the shade ‘Midnight’ here. Shanghai Suzy is an Australian based brand and their lipsticks have become very popular recently. I love supporting local brands and when I saw that Shanghai Suzy had released some new shades, I immediately placed an order.
I decided to play around with the lipstick today to try to figure out a way to make it more wearable. I am not very bold when it comes to my makeup; I tend to keep it very simple and natural. But there is something about this shade that draws me in and I was determined to make it work!
This is how I applied it: Firstly, I swiped my lips very lightly with the lipstick, and sheered it out across the lips. I added about three very light coats, as I wanted to be able to control the intensity. I then lined my lips very lightly with my Sephora lipliner in the shade ‘Nude’. This is an exact match for my natural lip colour and is great for adding definition in a subtle way. I then applied a light layer of the ‘Hue’ lipstick by Mac. This toned down the intensity of ‘Midnight’ while still allowing the darkness of the shade to peek through!
