It’s safe to say that I’m a tiny bit obsessed with highlighters and I recently added another to my ever growing collection. Pupa is a brand that isn’t very well known in Australia but quite popular overseas, especially in Europe. A friend of mine recently bought a few products while she was overseas so when I came across the Pupa stand at duty-free I thought it would be a good time to try. I tested out a few products and decided on the Like a Doll Golden Infusion Face Highlighter in 001 and the Eye Shadow Palette in 003. This post will focus on the Face Highlighter and I’ll blog about the Eye Shadow Palette separately. I also tested out the bronzer while I was there and regret not buying it; I had already bought one on my trip (the Guerlain Terracotta bronzer, which I’ll be blogging about soon) so I didn’t see the point in buying another one. But of course, now I’ve been stalking Strawberry Net hoping to come across it. I have a problem, I know…
Product information: Like a Doll Golden Infusion Face Highlighter in 001. A silky, compact formula rich in ultra shimmery pearls for a diffused light effect. Applied to the higher parts of your face, it really brings these features out, producing an exclusive pure gold effect. The elegant fragrance, made all the more sublime by a smooth combination of white blossoms and citrus petals, gives it a subtle enveloping feeling.
Purchased: Duty-free in Rome.
My review: This is a rose-gold toned highlighter that contains flecks of fine shimmer throughout. It’s perfect for adding a smatter of highlight on the cheekbones, along the bridge of the nose and on the forehead. I even like to apply some below my eyes, to brighten up the eye area.
A heavy swatch. I had to apply about four layers for it to show up like this.
The texture is quite soft and light; it’s a product that you’d need to build up quite heavily for it to show up well. I find it great for the daytime if I’m wanting to apply a subtle highlight to the face. However, it’s not a product I’d reach for if I’m going out at night, as I prefer a heavier look.
I’ve shown a comparison below between the Like a Doll Golden Infusion Face Highlighter and the Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer. The Like a Doll highlighter leans towards a rose/peachy tone and has visible shimmer whereas the Mary-Lou Manizer has a soft gold tone and contains very, very fine shimmer. Texture-wise, the pigmentation of Like a Doll highlighter is less creamy and needs to be built up quite heavily to make it show up on the skin. The Mary-Lou Manizer has a very creamy powder texture, and only a tiny amount is needed to highlight the face sufficiently.

I’ve worn this highlighter during the day, and it’s perfect for adding a subtle glow to the face. Sometimes my skin can look a bit dull, especially during the winter, so I like to use highlighter to add a sheen to my skin. I really like the rose tone as it brightens and adds a subtle pop of colour to the face.
I’m also a huge fan of the packaging. It comes housed in a round compact, with a light pink case and a gold lid. It is very feminine and girly and looks gorgeous on my bathroom shelf.
