Springtime has come to Melbourne (finally it seems, after a loooong winter) and it’s hard to not be in a good mood when the weather is warm, summer is around the corner and the festive season is almost within reach! Today I thought I’d talk about all of the things that have been making me happy. Hope you enjoy this type of post!
Some pretty flowers I picked up this weekend.
The weather. Melbourne is famous for its unpredictable and gloomy weather and if there is even the slight chance of sunshine, we tend to get pretty excited. This past weekend has brought the most beautiful weather, and it’s continued for most of Monday (however, in true Melbourne style, there will be thunderstorms tonight followed by a week of cold weather and rain). But it has been nice seeing everyone out and about, making the most of this gorgeous, yet rare weather.
My new obsession.
Gossip Girl. I am notoriously late when it comes to watching all of the hottest shows. I am sometimes delayed by years, and this newest addiction of mine is no different. After reading a post by a favourite blogger of mine +dizzybrunette3 about her addiction to Gossip Girl, I thought it was time I ventured into this unknown territory of the Upper East Side kids and their glamourous (and sometimes dangerous) lives. Well. It took me just over week to finish Season 1 and I am officially hooked. I cannot get enough of Gossip Girl and have on one occasion (ok, maybe several) found myself surfing the internet, looking for anything, anything to do with GG. If you haven’t watched this show yet, you need to. If not for the twisted story lines, at least for the beautiful New York scenery and the high fashion.
My new loves…sigh
My new makeup. I picked up the Guerlain Terracotta Light Bronzer and it’s probably one of my most favourite bronzers to date! It gives the most natural bronze to the skin and it also has the famous signature Guerlain scent. I also bought the Like a Doll Golden Infusion Face Highlighter by Pupa. This is a beautiful soft gold face highlighter, and gives a subtle and beautiful glow to the skin. I have a separate review coming up of this highlighter so keep an eye out for it!
Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult and The Vale Girl by Melika NcDonald. (Images taken from Google).
Reading. I’ve read some really great books lately, the type of stories that stay with you forever. One was called Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult, who is one of my favourite authors. She has a beautiful way of entwining human issues like love, trust, betrayal etc with unique topics that you normally wouldn’t read about. For example, this novel focuses on grief amongst elephants, and ties it in with human loss and grief. The story did get a bit creepy at times but it is truly a book that you can’t put down. If you read any book this year, make it this one. I’m currently reading The Vale Girl by Nelika McDonald. I am totally engrossed in this story of a teenage girl who goes missing in a small country town. The story is told through several perspectives and the plot keeps you on your toes.
What have you been enjoying lately?
