REVIEW: Facial at Breeze Face & Body

A while ago I received a gift voucher for a facial treatment at Breeze Face & Body, which is located in Altona, Melbourne. This was my first visit, and I was booked in for an Essential Breeze Facial. To be honest, after my disastrous facial at Miss Fox, I was very hesitant to try anything new on my skin. However, my skin had been looking a bit congested and I was in need of a good deep cleanse.

Upon walking in, I was greeted very warmly by Tayla, who is one of Breeze’s trained beauty therapists. The reception area is very tranquil and calming, and this is reflected in their colour palette of light wood and warm earthy tones. Breeze Face & Body use the ocean as inspiration, and it’s really apparent in the way the spa is decorated and in the calm vibes of the staff who work there.

I was taken to a waiting area and given the mandatory form to fill in. I think it’s great when spas do this, as it allows them to focus on your pressing skin concerns and to tailor the facial to suit your skin type. Tayla took me to one of the treatment rooms and oh my goodness, are spa beds not the most comfortable beds ever? I always feel like I’m floating on a cloud.

The treatment room.

The facial was quite involved. It was a solid hour of facial treatments and massages, which I’ll detail below.

My skin was cleansed twice, thoroughly. It was then exfoliated with a grainy scrub, followed by a skin analysis by Tayla. A bright light was shone on my face which is to help reveal any areas of concern. Tayla performed a few extractions (ouch!) followed by a skin mask to help calm the skin. Throughout the hour, I received a scalp, neck and shoulder and hand massage. Utter bliss!

After the hour was up, I felt very relaxed and calm. I did sneak a glimpse of my skin when I was getting dressed and it was a bit red but nothing too bad.

Tayla used a combination of products on my skin, including Dermalogica and uskincare. I was in need of a good quality serum and I was recommended the Pure C Complex Serum by uskincareIt contains Viramin C and is used as a barrier against the elements. It also claims to reduce the effects of sun damage. It is to be applied every morning under moisturiser. I’ve been using it for a solid week and so far it has not broken my skin out. I like the idea of adding another simple step to my skincare routine which will protect my skin in the long run. I am also loving the citrus scent.

The C Complex Serum by uskincare. It has a gel- like serum and sinks into the skin right away.

I thoroughly enjoyed my facial treatment at Breeze Face & Body. It can be hard to find a spa which offers exceptional service and a quality experience and Breeze Face & Body definitely deliver this.

As for how my skin has been after the facial, it has been quite clear with breakouts kept to a minimum. Some of the extractions that Tayla did were a bit red for the first few days but they have slowly faded. All in all, I am very happy and I plan to go back there for another facial in a month or two.

Where do you go for your facials?
