What I ate Wednesdays #1

I’ve always
loved reading ‘a day in the life’ type posts, so I thought I’d start a new
series called What I ate Wednesdays. It seems a lot of bloggers are keeping a
food diary style type online and it’s an interesting way (to me anyway!) to see
what other girls eat on a regular basis. It’s a great way to discover new foods and meal ideas. Let me know if this is something you’d
want to read about!

I should
also mention that I don’t really have any sort of particular diet or food habits but I naturally gravitate
towards healthier, unprocessed foods because I love the taste and the way they
make me feel. Of course I have days when I don’t eat as healthy but I am a massive believer in having everything in moderation and never denying yourself anything. This is just what works for me and my body. I don’t typically eat
a huge amount of food during my working day; I tend to graze and snack all day
which I know can be a bit unhealthy but that’s just what works for me. I tend to eat more when I’m at home and on weekends.

Anyway, let’s
get to it!

Just before
I head into the office I buy an Emma and Tom’s Smoothie Radical Action juice. I
don’t always have a juice in the morning, however I hadn’t eaten much the night
before (I had gone out straight from work and come home late) so I really felt
like something a bit extra. This juice contains apple, peach, orange and mango
and is super delicious. I also make my standard cup of Lipton tea (white, no
sugar) and start work. My stomach hasn’t been feeling the best all week so I’ve
been sticking to bland foods and nothing too rich. I sip the juice slowly over an
hour in between running reports and answering emails.

I also
bought a Rokeby Farms Whole Protein Breakfast Smoothie Iced Coffee. I am not a
coffee person at all (except for the occasional Greek coffee here and there), and I
hadn’t tried this one previously however I wanted something filling as I don’t normally
eat breakfast. It’s a bit heavy so I only drink about half.

Lately I’ve
been eating a Luv Sum Naked Protein Ball each day, and it’s the perfect snack
to fill me up and keep me feeling satisfied. After trying a few of their
flavours I’ve decided my favourite is the Cashew and Coconut ball so that’s what I’ll
be having today. I eat this mid-morning with another cup of tea. This keeps me
full until lunchtime. I am usually starving by lunchtime, so the juice +
protein ball combo is obviously a winner! I think I’ll have this every morning.

Lunch is a pho
soup from Nashi. I normally try to bring my lunch in but I forgot to pack one
last night so a bought meal it is! The soup was ok…it was pretty heavy on my
stomach and very oily. I didn’t really enjoy it that much. Next time I’ll stick
to my regular salad.

Afternoon snack is another cup of tea and some water. I normally have some Salada biscuits around this time however I didn’t feel like any today. This is often the last bit of food and drink I have for the day, as I won’t eat until I get home around 5:30-6.

When I
finally get home, I make myself a cup of tea and catch up on some reading/blogging. I
have a concert tonight so I make myself a quick salad and toast. My stomach isn’t feeling the best so I don’t want to aggravate it.

Later on
that night, I have another cup of tea and a big glass of water. Tea always helps me to relax and puts me in the sleep zone.

Reading back
on my post, I think I tend to drink more (teas, juices etc), but that’s only
because I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather all week and liquid is a bit
easier to get down.

Thanks for
reading, and please let me know if you enjoy these type of posts!
