I do love September. It’s the month where we come out of hibernation, fill
up our online trolleys with all of the pretty spring fashions and start to
prepare for the fun times ahead. We recently had the Grand Final long weekend
here in Melbourne and it was the perfect way to get excited for the upcoming warmer
months. Spring racing, warm nights and the promise of Summer around the corner
is what September is all about so it was only fitting that September’s Ballabox
theme was Front Row Fab.
Here’s what was included:
ModelCo Instant Brow Retractable Pencil. ModelCo are known for their
innovate products and ability to streamline our beauty routines (remember their
Tan in a Can?) and the Instant Brow is no exception. This is a brow pencil that
transforms brows into full, perfectly arched masterpieces with a few simple
strokes. It has a wax formula which means greater longevity and ensures brows
are immaculate 24/7. I have just finished up my Benefit Gimme Brow so this
product came at the perfect time. My first impressions of this brow pencil are that the formula is smooth and easy to work with, the shade Medium/Dark is the perfect match for my dark brows and it has really good staying power. It has a thick, tapered style pencil with a brow brush on the other end and is a great all in one product. I am really loving this product so far.
Siligel Blender. It seems that makeup sponges are having a huge moment and
the Siligel Blender is the newest one to join the beauty community. This
blender is made from silicone and is easy to clean, reusable and uses less
product than a regular sponge. Bellabox included one in each subscription box
and I was eagerly awaiting mine. After testing this blender out I can see why people are loving it. It provides a completely flawless coverage to the skin and because it is silicone it does not soak up any product. I actually really like this blender and will use it when I want a fuller coverage.
Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser Lotion. Avene is a French skincare brand
famous for their sensitive-skin friendly products. This lotion is paraben free
and has a no-rinse formula, making it quick and easy to use. I used to use
Avene years ago (their thermal water was a personal favourite) and I remember
how gentle it was on my acne-prone skin. I like the idea of a no-rinse cleaner
and will likely take this with me on my next trip. The sample size is generous
so I’m likely to get a few uses out of it.
Purifying 2 in 1 Charcoal Mask. Activated charcoal is the ‘IT’ ingredient at the moment
and is known for its ability to draw out toxins and purify the skin. This is a 2-in-1 mask which exfoliates the skin whilst also removing oil. Bellabox
have included this product in a previous box so I have already tried it out.
While I like charcoal masks, I do prefer ones that are hydrating as my skin is
on the drier side. I plan to keep this as a spot treatment as I recall it did a
great job of drying out my blemishes.
Pure Paw Paw
Ointment. Paw Paw ointment is uniquely Australian and is a great
multipurpose product to have in your handbag, at your desk or in the car as it
can virtually be applied to anything. Cuts, rashes, sores…the list goes on. I have used this brand before and enjoyed it, so I was happy to receive it.
Swisspers Facial Wipes. Swisspers is a brand that most of us have in our bathroom in some shape or form, and is a great, everyday staple. These facial wipes remove makeup from the face, neck and eye area and leave the skin feeling soft and moisturised. I love facial wipes and use them often when I travel or to freshen up my face during the day. This pack includes one wipe so I’ll keep this in my handbag.
Overall this month’s box had a good selection of products to test out and
review, however it did feel a bit too ‘same same’. As mentioned in my previous
post I will most likely end my subscription this year and look for another
beauty box. I’ve had my eye on the Nourished Life subscription box which
focuses on natural based skincare and beauty products, which I feel would be the perfect fit for me and the blog. Stay tuned!
