I am one of those people who get more excited about packing for a trip than the actual trip itself. I love preparing my toiletry bag and suitcase, deciding what will come with me and the endless trips to Chemist Warehouse for that ‘last minute’ item. Packing is the bane of most people’s existence but to me, it’s the (nearly) best part of the trip.
After booking a weekend away in Daylesford, my first thought was to start packing. We are going in the first weekend in December and I cannot wait. The place we’re staying in is an old country style house with plenty of nature surrounding us (apparently kangaroos are known to hop through the front yard which fills me with dread as I am terrified of them). It will be a quiet weekend with lots of walking, drinking tea and observing the wildlife (or running away in terror, depending how it all goes). Needless to say, we are really excited and looking forward to unwinding for a couple of days.
I thought I’d share with you what I plan to pack in my toiletries bag. It’s only a two day getaway; we are leaving on Friday late afternoon and coming back home on Sunday afternoon so there isn’t a whole lot to pack. Regardless, I thought it would be fun to show you what I plan on taking with me as I love to read these sort of posts!
Tissues, because you just never know when you’ll need one.
I carry wet wipes (I picked up these cute Pepper Pig wipes from Chemist Warehouse) around with me constantly as I’m a total germaphobe, especially when it comes to staying in accommodation.
Facial wipes, such as these Sephora Coconut Water Cleansing Wipes which I picked up recently.
Toothpaste and toothbrush obviously.
Instead of bringing a separate hand and body cream, I decided on the Green Olive Hand and Body Lotion in Lemon Verbena*. This was sent to me and so far I am loving it! It’s nourishing yet light on the skin and the scent it amazing. It’s also small enough to pack in your handbag which is handy.
I switched over to natural based deodorants a few years ago and haven’t looked back. The Myaura Organics deodorant range can be purchased from Coles and is incredibly effective at masking odours and protecting against sweat. I am currently using the Ylang Ylang Rose scent which is really nice and my favourite so far.
Some other necessities include hair ties, bobby pins, face moisturiser and a skin mask as a getaway is the perfect time to use one!
What do you pack for a short getaway? Do you bring everything or just the absolute necessities?
