Byron Bay is my happy place and what I love most about it are the amazing eateries!
I’ve just returned from a week long trip and had the chance to try out a bunch of different eateries. I’ve decided to collate some of my favourites cafes for you in a handy guide.
I first visited Byron Bay over 10 years ago and remember being blown away by all of the amazing healthy cafes and restaurants. As someone who loves fruit and veggies to an unhealthy degree, I was in heaven.
While Byron Bay has changed tremendously since that first trip (more commercial and touristy now), it has still retained its love of healthy living. If you are vegan, vegetarian, lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant or simply love to eat healthy, chances are you will find somewhere to eat in Byron Bay.
Here are some of the best eateries in Byron Bay!
Best healthy cafe in a trendy setting
Combi Cafe: 5b/21/25 Fletcher St, Byron Bay NSW 2481
Combi Cafe offer a range of healthy alternatives to drinks and meals. If you are lactose intolerant or gluten free, Combi Cafe will be a great option for you. Their raw cakes and nut milks are house made and organic ingredients are used where possible. Combi are passionate about using organic ingredients, free from synthetic pesticides and chemicals and have a wide selection of coffees, smoothies and breakfast options. FYI, this was easily my favourite cafe in Byron for breakfast (Combi reposted my photo on Intagram, check it out here!).
What to order: Try the iced chai with the granola bowl; heavenly!

Best for fresh seafood and cocktails with a view
Balcony Bar & Oyster Co: 7 Lawson St, Byron Bay NSW 2481
Balcony is a laid back restaurant and bar located on the corner of Byron’s busiest street. They specialise in oysters, cocktails and seafood however it’s their amazing views of Byron Bay that really make it special (in my opinion!). Their inside decor is reminiscent of a Hampton’s beach house, with plenty of cosy armchairs and boho artworks adorning the walls. The gigantic wraparound porch outside is perfect for relaxing with a drink while watching the sun go down. FYI, Happy Hour is from 4pm-6pm each day and worth going to as their cocktails are only $13! Also, we saw Matt Damon here with some friends in the private dining room one night!
What to order: Try the crab pasta with a strawberry daiquiri.
