Hands up who owns a product from MAC Cosmetics?
Chances are you have at least one MAC product in your collection. That’s because MAC is such a cutting edge brand; their extensive shade and product range makes makeup accessible to absolutely everyone.
Over the years so many MAC products have made their way into my makeup bag. Pigments, eyeshadows, lipsticks (including the famous Velvet Teddy that launched a million nude shades) and face highlighters, not to mention their Studio Fix foundation that completely covered my acne in my early twenties. Come to think of it, I had a really big MAC collection!
MAC are running a Lips campaign during the month of March and I was kindly invited to take part. Today I’ll be sharing with you my current favourite lipstick shade and some tips I picked up from my one-on-one consultation with a MAC MUA.
So many amazing shades!
I visited the MAC store on Chapel Street, Melbourne for my consultation. I was really excited to take part in the campaign and of course sample their amazing lipstick range!
My lovely MUA Talia walked me through their entire lipstick collection and explained the difference in finishes such a matte, glossy, high shine etc. Talia then asked me what type of colours I like in a lipstick. I’m currently loving mauve/nude shades with a glossy finish and when Talia picked out the shade Modesty* from their Creme Sheen Lipstick collection it was love at first sight! Modesty is the perfect ‘my lips but better’ shade and has a soft glossy finish which I personally love. Talia then matched Modesty to a MAC Lip Pencil and then it was time for my lip makeover!
I was first introduced to the Prep + Prime Lip Base* which acts as a primer for the lips. It provides a smooth base for lipstick and also helps to lock in colour. It can be used under lipstick and even on it’s own as a lip conditioner (it’s really soothing on the lips!). Talia applied this to my lips first and to prepare my lips for the second step.
The next step was to line the lips with the MAC Lip Pencil*. I was matched to the shade Plum, which is a brown based berry shade and perfect for enhancing the lip line.
Talia then applied Modesty to my lips as the final step.
I was super happy with the end result and can now call Modesty a new favourite! It is a great nude shade and would be universally flattering on so many different skin tones.
I was curious to know what lipstick shades are the most popular from MAC and was interested to know that Velvet Teddy, Ruby Woo and Lady Danger are all bestsellers (I have two of the three coincidentally!).
I’d love to know what MAC lipstick shade you are currently loving!
Special thanks to MAC Cosmetics and Brand.etc for the collaboration!
