A Beauty Wanderer x MAC Studio Fix Fluid

MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid is a cult classic so when I was invited to join their #EveryShadeOfYou campaign it was a no brainer I’d say yes!

I used Studio Fix Fluid throughout my early twenties when I had bad acne, and I swear it would cover every little flaw.

I hadn’t used it in years so I was curious to try it out again and see how it went on my skin.

The idea behind the #EveryShadeOfYou campaign is to celebrate individuality, which is something I am always on board for.

Studio Fix Fluid comes in over 50 shades, making it the most diverse foundation globally! After being matched to my perfect Studio Fix Fluid shade, I would then be invited to choose a finish to customise the look. The choices were Staying Dewy, Creating Highlights and Flawlessly Matte Skin, and these would be created using other MAC products.

I was super excited to be matched to a Studio Fix Fluid shade, choose my own finish and pick up some insider tips on the day!

My appointment was at the MAC store on Chapel St, which beckoned me in with its toasty warm heating, a welcome relief from the chilly Melbourne morning.

After meeting my MUA for the day, we got right down to business. Tahlia asked me a few questions on the coverage I prefer, any skin concerns and of course the type of finish I’d like. Seeing as I love anything glowy and shimmery it was a no brainer that I chose the Highlights finish!

To begin the makeover, Tahlia refreshed my skin with the Prep + Prime Fix* spray.

This was the first time I’d tried this iconic spray and now I completely understand the hype. It is refreshing, soothing and smells just like cucumbers, yum! It contains botanicals to soothe and reduce any redness in the skin, and Tahlia explained it could also be used as a refresher throughout the day.

Next up Tahlia applied the Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion Serum* to my skin.

This is a great way to boost hydration and plump the skin up before makeup. It also acts as a primer to create a smooth canvas for makeup application. Seeing as we were going for a highlighted finish, this serum provided a nice glow to my skin.

The star of the show, the Studio Fix Fluid* was applied next.

Tahlia applied three different shades to my skin and we decided that the NC20 shade was the closest match. NC20 is a cool toned shade with warm, yellow undertones and matched my skin so well! Seeing as I have a bit of redness on my skin, along with a few minor breakouts, Talia applied a medium to full coverage using both a brush and a sponge and my skin looked flawless! It looked like my skin but better, and it is exactly what I look for in a foundation.

Next up was highlighting the face!

Tahlia applied the Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle*, a highly pigmented highlighting powder with peachy, bronze undertones. It was applied to the high points of my cheekbones, along my nose, forehead and to the lips. What I love about this powder is its versatility. It can be used lightly as a way to warm the skin up, or applied with a heavier hand to highlight the skin. It is very pigmented and has a dusty texture, making it a dream to apply. I actually owned this exact powder years ago and remember loving it, so I am happy to own it again!

To complete the look, my skin was blasted with a few sprays of the Prep + Prime Fix spray. This can be used as a finishing spray and is perfect for locking the makeup into place.

The completed look!

I absolutely adored the final result and love how natural and shimmery it looked.

I love how adding a product such as Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle completely transforms an ordinary makeup look into something a bit ‘extra’. I plan to recreate this look often as I love it so much!
