Get to know me tag!

So I was recently tagged by the lovely Daisychain Daydreams for the Versatile Blogger Award, where I reveal 7 things about me that you may not know. Thank you Daisy for the nomination!

I love these types of posts as it’s a nice way to find out more about the ‘blogger behind the blog’. Not that I think I’m that interesting to warrant an entire post but it’s a nice change from the usual beauty related chatter so let’s get to it!

I love to travel

I started a bit late (late twenties) when I was a bit more financially established and secure, and I am really happy I did it that way as hostels and shared accommodation is not for me! So far I have visited some beautiful countries such as Greece, Italy, Spain and France, and some parts of the US. I also like travelling within Australia as it’s so much less stressful. Next on my wishlist is the Amalfi Coast, but it won’t be for another couple of years or so. My favourite places so far are the Greek Islands (honestly so amazing) and Paris because who doesn’t like to eat pastries all day?

Enjoying a margarita at Rockpool!

I love to dine out

I do not consider myself a ‘foodie’ in any way but I do love dining out. Matthew and I have been to some pretty awesome restaurants over the years, however my number one fave is definitely Rockpool Bar & Grill. I always get the exact same thing (oysters, rib eye steak cooked rare, two margaritas and pavlova and tea to finish it off!). Part of the fun is dressing up and doing my hair and makeup and feeling glam. We are going for Matthew’s birthday next month and I honestly cannot wait; I’ve already planned my outfit and shoes haha.

New York City was my first overseas trip

I remember the way I felt as we drove into the city at night; excitement, exhilaration and also a bit of fear as to what lay ahead. It was early December so the city was in a festive mood; NY is the absolute best time at Christmas. All of the smoke billowing up from the pavement, roasted chestnuts stands and the general holiday chaos makes it the most magical place. I guess I went in with romantic notions of how it would be and it didn’t disappoint. Although I’ve travelled to some pretty awesome places since, nothing will ever top my first New York trip.

I am not a morning person at all

I need at least two cups of tea to function and anybody who knows me will not speak to me before then! I honestly cannot string two sentences together in the morning and am always amazed how others can be so chirpy!

Crafting is a big passion

I’ve been sewing and knitting since I was young and even had a small bridal bag range which I sold to friends and family. All of the women in my family are extremely talented seamstresses so I was lucky to grow up around all of that talent. Although I don’t have as much time these days, I still try to create when I can. One of my favourite things to do is crochet and recently I’ve made my niece a colourful granny square blanket for winter.

I suffer from social anxiety

Mostly when I’m around new people or in an unfamiliar environment however it can pop up randomly. What happens is that I start to get really nervous, my heart starts pounding and I can’t think straight. I find it hard to string sentences together and will often stand there in silence, which looks odd but I can’t help it! Those closest to me can recognise the signs however I get really weird looks from others who don’t know. However when I’m around people I’m comfortable with I can come across as really social! It’s an odd thing.

I was ultra skinny growing up

I was so skinny that strangers would regularly come up to me and ask how much I weighed. I would overeat just to prove to others that I did in fact eat LOL. As a kid and teen I hated it but now I am grateful for the ‘thin’ genes.

I hope you found this even a bit remotely interesting and let me know some things about you in the comments below!

Now I’ll share the guidelines and nominate some of my favourite bloggers to participate!

The Guidelines!

For the Versatile Blogger Award, these are the rules that the nominees need to follow if they’re interested!

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

2. Share 7 facts about yourself so your readers can get to know you! As you can tell I got a bit carried away whoops.

3. At the end of the post nominate 10-15 of your favourite bloggers who haven’t been nominated and share their response. I nominated only 8 (sorry to break the rules!).

These are the lovely bloggers I am nominating!

Aw I’m so happy you posted your answers Roxanne, I enjoyed learning more about ‘the blogger behind the blog’ through this post. I love to travel too – sounds like you’ve visited lots of incredible travel destinations (the Greek islands is on the top of my travel bucket-list, hehehe!). Oh I visited the Amalfi Coast with my family as a young child and daydream about going back now I’m older and want to explore it all over again – I think you’ll love it there too! We sound quite likeminded, haha! 🙂

Crafting is a hobby of mine too! I used to knit more regularly but find it a bit harder fitting it in lately, hopefully I’ll start a new project soon! I’ve knitted myself a few wool scarfs over time. Crocheting looks so beautiful and delicate but difficult, did you teach yourself? I’d love to see some photos of your creations.

Omg I was the same growing up, although those ‘skinny’ genes seem to have mysteriously gone away now I’m a bit older, oooops! I love food too much, hehehe!

Thanks Daisy, I’m so happy you enjoyed it and I was able to be a part of it! I think we have lots in common 🙂 I would love to share some of my creations on the blog, I will put some photos up soon! Both my grandmas and my mum crocheted so I was able to pick it up from them, but there are tons of Youtube videos on basic crochet to help! You are so lucky to have visited the Amalfi Coast 🙂

Hey Roxane, I just saw your reply to my comment now, hehehe! 🙂
Ooooh yes, I would love to see some of your crafty creations!
That’s so lovely you can learn from your family (and yes, isn’t it amazing what you can find videos for on YouTube, it never ceases to amaze me, haha!).
