As we edge into 2020 (is it just me or does that feel really strange writing?) I thought I’d round up some of the best products of 2019! I tried a lot of new products this year and surprisingly many of them ended up being favourites of mine.
As hard as I tried to use up my collection, it proved a bit difficult, especially when being sent products to try. I made a huge dent in my body moisturisers and managed to use up quite a few which was great as I have so many. I did this by moisturising every single night and I am happy to say that I am now in the habit of doing so. I also made an effort to use up my facial sprays/toners and am about halfway through so far (I usually post my empties posts up on Instagram so be sure to follow me there!). My aim is to continue reducing my current collection down to the bare minimum; I’d love to hold all of my products in a simple basket but as you can imagine this is quite hard for a beauty blogger! Nonetheless I will work towards that, so watch this space…
So without further ado, let’s get to my favourite products of 2019!
The Natural Deodorant Jar. I have used this range for the past few years and absolutely love them (seriously, go check them out, they are amazing and all handmade, not to mention the owners are so friendly!). While I had used their stick deodorants I had never tried their jar versions and after trying them I have fallen in love. I actually find the spreadable version to be much easier to apply as the stick versions harden (this is more to do with living in cold Melbourne than anything else). I simply take a glob and warm it between my fingers before applying to my underarms. I have found this to be the best natural deodorant I have ever tried and I never have odour problems. Highly recommend this and if you are unsure The Natural Deodorant offer travel size tins so you can try before committing to a full sized version.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette. If you’re a regular reader of this blog I am sure that you’re sick of me harping on about this. I wrote an in depth review here so I won’t go into detail and bore you. Just know it is an amazing palette and the colours are super gorgeous. I try to use this everyday as I don’t want it to go to waste like so many of my other palettes.
Mac Fix Plus Setting Spray. I was gifted this from a PR company and can’t believe I hadn’t tried it sooner. It sets, softens and refreshes my makeup and doesn’t make me look so ‘done’. If you’re in the market for a setting spray I highly recommend this one. I also love to use it as a pick me up during summer.
Burt’s Bees Lip Balms. I was lucky enough to be gifted these throughout the year and have come to love these nourishing lip balms. They come in an amazing array of flavours however my current fave is the Coconut and Pear flavour. They leave my lips super moisturised and I never leave home without one.
Shanghai Suzy Lipsticks. This is a Melbourne based brand who produce an array of gorgeous lipsticks, all in totally unique and wearable colours. I wrote a review here so I won’t go into much detail however I am a huge fan of these lipsticks as they are great quality and come in beautiful shades. My absolute favourite shade is Miss Steph Baby Lavender as it suits my skin tone really well and has the nicest satin finish.
Face Tan Water. I started using face tan waters awhile ago, starting with the original EcoTan version. For me, face tan waters are a serious game changer as they tan the face without breakouts or irritation (something I used to experience with self tanners in the past). They are applied like a toner and the colour develops within a few hours. I did an in depth review comparing the EcoTan and Bali Body versions and I found both did a great job. The only difference is that the Bali Body version tans a bit darker. If you find that regular self tanning mousse or cream breaks your face out, I highly recommend looking into face tan waters.
So that rounds up my stand out products of 2019! I do have a lot more favourites however these are definitely the stand out ones for me. As I get older I care less about the newest ‘fad’ products and can happily pass on many as I know I just don’t need them.
So I would love to know what your stand out products of 2019 were?
Thanks for reading!
