Hi everyone! It feels like ages since I last posted. There’s been so much going on lately, what with the outbreak and uncertainty of day to day life so needless to say this blog has taken a backseat.
In a bid to steer away from all of the scariness of the virus, I thought I’d share my homemade face oil with you! This was inspired by an essential oils party that I recently attended, where I ended up purchasing a starter kit. The host showed us a face oil she had made herself so this inspired me to create my own version. Since then, I was keen to create my own unique blend.
So in order to make a face oil, you need a carrier oil and essential oils. Carrier oils form the base (and bulk) of the product; popular choices include jojoba oil, rose hip oil, sweet almond oil and macadamia oil.
You then add a few drops of your favourite essential oils.
It’s totally up to you what oils you use however it’s worth choosing oils that target your skin type. For example, for acne prone skin, tea tree is a great option. Frankinsence is great for maintaining youthful skin. For myself, I used a combination of patchouli, lavender (about 10 drops each) and orange oil (about 5 drops). Simply pour into a glass amber dropper bottle, shake together and that’s it! I’ve been applying mine at night and my skin looks and feels amazing. I’ve also made some for friends and so far the feedback has been positive!
It has me wondering whether those expensive skincare products we purchase are actually worth it, and more importantly, whether they actually do anything for your skin? I’d love to know your thoughts!
I hope you enjoyed this little recipe and thanks for reading!
