Hello and welcome back to another edition of letter from the editor!
So it’s November and things have just opened up for us Melburnians. It feels nice to have life sort of back to normal, but I’ve also gotten so used to being in lockdown that I am hesitant to go anywhere. I’m a homebody too so I’ve really enjoyed lockdown (for the most part anyway). I like being at home, cooking my own healthy meals and just having me time. It’s different for everyone though; I have friends who absolutely hate lockdown, some that love it and the ones in between. So it’s really affected everyone differently.
Over the past couple of years or so I have fallen in love with vintage designer bags.
I had a couple already however was desperate for a vintage Fendi. Over the last few weeks I’ve purchased three secondhand bags and am in love.
Here’s my newest additions!
I bought the classic black Fendi bag with the silver buckle. My sister bought one and I decided I had to own one too. It’s classic, simple and goes with everything.
The Fendi Hobo bag with gold hardware. I have been wanting this one for years and was so thrilled when I found one! Obsessed. I love the glamorous gold hardware; it just feels very luxe to me.
The Versace Pink Leather chain bag with gold detail. Ok this is probably my absolute favourite bag. I can’t decide if it’s glam or tacky but Versace is known for that trashy glam look and I love it. I can’t wait to wear this one out. It also comes in blue so when one becomes available I think I’ll get that too.
And here is my small collection of vintage bags. I only have five so far but hope to add to it slowly!
I buy my bags from The Luxury Closet. It’s a Dubai based company and they have the most amazing array of secondhand items. The first thing I do every morning is check their website for new items. Even if they don’t have the item you want in stock, they have personal shoppers who can source it for you. Amazing yet very dangerous haha. What I love about buying second hand is that you save so much more money and often the item is in perfect condition. So it really makes perfect sense to purchase second hand.
If you read my previous editor post, you may know that I got Invisalign earlier this year.
My teeth are almost completely straight now, however I will need a few more aligners to position them perfectly. I am so happy with the results. If you are thinking of getting Invisalign get it, you will not regret it. Way more comfortable than traditional braces and completely removable too.
Has anyone else watched Emily in Paris on Netflix?
I did and loved it. Yes, it was cliche and completely unrealistic however during lockdown it was great to have an escape. I think I’ll write up a separate post on Emily in Paris and my thoughts on it because I need to discuss it!
Speaking of Netflix, has anyone started watching Christmas movies?
I’m watching one at the moment called Holidate. It has a completely ridiculous plot yet is totally enjoyable. I am excited for Christmas, even though I can’t believe it is only a month away. I hope Christmas will feel like Christmas this year. It just feels like there was no lead up this year; I still feel stuck in March as that’s when we went into lockdown!
Has anyone else in Melbourne booked dinners/drinks yet?
I’ve booked our fave restaurant for this weekend and am so looking forward to dressing up. After months of track pants and bad hair it will feel really nice to glam up. The last time I went out for dinner was in March, how crazy.
I think I mentioned in my last life update that I had crocheted a few granny square blankets.
Well, I have not slowed down as I have so many more to make for family and friends. I’m thinking of starting a little side business of selling my blankets. I might start a page on Instagram and see how it goes…
Anyway, if you’ve read this far through thanks for sticking with me! Sorry if this post is a bit rambly and all over the place; it’s been a long day!
What have you been up to, anything exciting? Are you still in lockdown?
