Hi all! I recently went away to Geelong for one night and thought I’d blog about it.
There was no major reason for our getaway. We just felt like a change of scenery and a reason to switch off from everyday life.
So we left on Friday morning and came back Saturday afternoon. It was a short stay and just the mini break we both needed, as covid doesn’t really let you travel too far these days.
I booked a self contained apartment which was about a 10 minute walk to the main city centre and Westfields. The apartment was perfectly sized; one bedroom, a living room and a spacious bathroom. I loved the Parisian style throughout
Our cute as a button living room. In that cupboard was a teapot which I took full advantage of ha ha.
Neat and simple bedroom.
I packed lightly and only brought products I knew I’d use. Also, my new Amrezy palette which is so beautiful.
So once we got to Geelong, we stopped for breakfast at a lovely cafe. The food was nice and it felt really cosy as the rain fell outside. Of course we picked the one day to go when there was a torrential downpour.
We checked into the apartment around 2pm and after relaxing for a bit and unpacking my toiletries and suitcase, we walked to Westfields for a browse. Matthew bought a jumper but I was happy just window shopping. Update: actually, I did buy a novel which I will review at a later date.
We had dinner reservations at a French restaurant later that night. I felt like dressing ultra casual so I wore my mom jeans, blue crop and my beloved LV bag.
Dinner was so good! We both ordered steak and frites (fries) and a salad, plus a dessert to share and tea/coffee.
We did plan to go out afterwards for drinks but decided to go back to the apartment instead. One side effect of being in your 30s is the lack of needing to socialise (which is fine by me haha).
The next day we ventured out for an early morning walk on the foreshore and breakfast in a cute bakery (I forgot the name of it but it’s off Little Malop Street) before heading back home.
It felt really nice to just get away for one night and be in different surroundings. Geelong is great as it’s far enough to feel like you’ve left Melbourne but close enough that you don’t feel like you’ve travelled too far to get there. If that even makes sense. It also has a great range of restaurants and bars that we’re used to in Melbourne.
Thanks for reading.
